Ophthamologist Questions Ophthalmologist

Eye irritation?

I think I have something going on with my eyes, my optometrist says everything is and looks fine. I am not convinced every time it seems as it has gone away it comes back again it feels like an eyelash is poking at the corner of my opposite of the tear duct I can't get it to stop. I have tried absolutely everything even eye drops I know I shouldn't do this but it gets to the point where I can't stand it for one last second so I get a pair of tweezers and pluck till the sensation is gone and then it feels completely better I have also been struggling with trichotillomania and my mom thinks it has something to do with it and in my heart, I am completely positive that it has nothing to do with it. I also can't go out to get a second opinion because I am a student living with my mom and I don't have any personal money so I would have to go through and I just can't sit around anymore telling myself the issue will resolve on its own when I know it won't I am at the point where I don't know what else to do.

A complete ophthalmologic exam should be performed to determine the cause of your symptoms.
You should get epilation for trichiasis . Never pull out eye lashes yourself .
This does require a second opinion. You should seek an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist, who can give you a better answer for your problem.
Make an appointment with an ophthalmologist and have a thorough medical eye exam. The optometrist is not the best professional resource for your problem and your mother's medical insurance probably covers the cost of your visit as you are a student living at home with her.
There are many possible causes to your symptoms, including ocular allergy, dry eye, blepharitis. It’s best to start with something simple such as a moisturizing eye drop 4 times a day to see if that solves your complaints. Past that, you may need another eye exam to get to the bottom of the problem.

I’m sorry for your dilemma. Your optometrist said you are fine but did he/she examine you WHILE you are having this feeling? If that is true and the doctor does not see anything to cause the symptoms, then there is nothing to remove. Under no circumstances should you be picking at something that can’t be found. If this is the case, then your mom may be right and it could be associated with your other problem. Good luck.
