Ankle pain can be caused by many different reasons. Getting x-rays and an evaluation of the ankle joint  can be very beneficial in determining the cause which will eventually determine the best treatment for your condition. I recommend you see a podiatrist or specialist. Jonathan M. Kletz, DPM Texas Foot WorksDallas, Athens and Gun Barrel City Texas214-340-8885
In order to alleviate your ankle pain, the source of the pain has to be determined first. A foot, ankle and leg specialist can perform a clinical exam to determine the anatomic zone of injury. Advanced imaging modalities such as x-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound can be very useful in developing a diagnosis. Once the source of your ankle pain is identified, conservative and surgical options will be discussed.

I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for diagnosis, evaluation and treatment options
It depends on what is causing the pain. You may have a tendon, ligament, nerve, joint, or bone problem. You need a proper evaluation and diagnosis in order to have a proper treatment plan/regimen
Ankle pain is common. You should consult with your local podiatrist for proper evaluation.
The answer is "I don't know". I can offer a lot of treatments in the office. I have a lot of diagnostic tools in the office. The answer though is I don't know what I can do until I see you; with exam and maybe an xray to get to the root cause of your ankle pain. Sometimes, I have to order an MRI if it is soft tissue related ailments. Therefore, I recommend that you see a local podiatrist or me asap for diagnosis and then treatment can begin.
