You need to make sure that your teeth are decay free and gum disease is not an issue
Make sure to visit your dentist before you start your braces to get clearance, which indicate that all your teeth are cavity free and pretty much after that you should be good to start your braces. During the braces, as an active ortho patient, you would want to have more frequent cleaning session like 4 time a year, as well as fluoride treatment and your own special home care, like brushing and flossing.
Keep them clean and painting their cleanliness.
To prepare for braces, first, see your general dentist and have a checkup and cleaning. Be sure there are no cavities lurking about and be shown how to keep your teeth clean. Get in the habit now of doing a good, thorough job of brushing and flossing. Get a bag of Platypus flossers so you can floss your teeth with braces on. Review oral hygiene instructions with your orthodontist. Good luck.
You would need to consult with the provider.

If you haven’t already done so, book an appointment with your general dentist to get a routine check-up and clean. This is because your orthodontist needs your teeth and gums to be nice and healthy before your braces are fitted. Also, be sure to thoroughly brush your teeth and floss in the lead up to your appointment so that your teeth and gums are in the best possible condition on the day your braces are applied.
Great question! Before you get braces is a wonderful time to start thinking about the health of your teeth. I would recommend going to a general dentist or a periodontist to make sure your teeth, gums, and bone are healthy enough for safe tooth movement. Any cavities or gum/bone problems can get worse while you are in braces if not addressed first. You can also get a professional cleaning to make sure everything is in top shape. Building good habits now is another great idea - make sure you are brushing at least 2 times per day for 2 minutes each time with a fluoride toothpaste (to help keep away cavities), and flossing regularly. Brushing and flossing can be harder once you have braces on, so having good practices beforehand can go a long way! You can also look into an electric toothbrush, Waterpik, or even proxabrushes/go-betweens that will help you keep your teeth and gums healthy while you have braces.
Congratulations on deciding to get braces and good luck with your treatment!
The best thing to do is keep them cavity free by brushing and flossing regularly.
Go for your regular dental exam cleaning and get all your cavities taking care of
The first thing was to get evaluated for the orthodontics (braces). At that appointment your teeth would be checked for and cavities and gum disease. All of this should be addressed before any orthodontics. Braces just make the daily cleaning and maintenance of your teeth 100X harder, get into good habits with flossing and brushing before you start. The results will be worth it!
No grinding or shot such kind of things. Put multiple "bracket"- bond to teeth-, takes about an hour, more or less
Keeping good oral hygiene will be the main thing you will need. If there is more things required before braces, your dentist will be able to give instructions about it.
There is nothing you need to do to prepare your teeth for braces just continue your normal oral hygiene, including flossing and brushing.
