My baby will get a filling. How long do fillings last on baby teeth?

Fillings on baby teeth can last many years if you make sure the child does NOT eat sticky candy and the child brushes twice a day with a soft brush. Have your dentist check your child periodically and an x-ray should be taken to ensure there are no recurrent cavities at least every two years.
I would expect fillings to last until the tooth comes out…unless the baby gets more decay. The key to having it last is the care you take to minimize sweets or acids in the baby’s diet. Ask the dentist for more information and try to find out how the baby got the cavity…such as sleeping with a bottle.
It’s not typical to have to replace fillings on primary teeth but it does happen, especially if the child is a grinder or the bite arrangement is challenging. Normally they would last as long as the rest of the time til permanent teeth come in.
Hopefully, until the baby teeth come out. Good Luck!
It depends on the type of filling. They can last anywhere from 3-4 months to many years.
