How long does it take for a stroke patient to recover?

My friend had a stroke. How long does it take for a stroke patient to recover?

Hello! So that depends on a couple of things: the type of stroke, the location of the stroke and the size. I am not a stroke neurologist and thus not an expert in stroke neurology, but I would recommend finding your friend a specialist and bringing their imaging to the appointment so they can give you a better gauge for the recovery process. Depends on the type of stroke, age of the patient, other co morbidities they have that may prevent or delay healing, and if they are compliant with their treatment regimen. There are a multitude of factors and the combination is unique to each individual. Regards, Dr. A
It varies based on a lot of factors, including the individual person.  Ongoing therapies to help restore function and reduce deficit has been proven to be most effective in recovery from stroke.
