How long does it take for kidney biopsy results to come back?

I will have a kidney biopsy. How long does it take for kidney biopsy results to come back?

It takes about 24 to 48 hours.. Pain at the biopsy site is common after a kidney biopsy, however, it lasts only few hours. Local anesthesia will be given before the procedure, and it will minimize the pain The recovery is 24 hours. You can go back to work after 24 hours unless your healthcare provider tells you otherwise. Also, you can return to all your normal activities after two to three days after the procedure. Thank you.
A number of studies need to be done on a kidney biopsy, including microscopy, even electron microscopy, and other special stains. Also depending on the hospital the biopsy was done at, they may need to send the biopsy to another institution (e.g. the University of Michigan) for this workup.
