My son has thalassemia minor. How can we increase his hemoglobin levels?

My son is 8 years old and is suffering from thalassemia minor. In spite of his treatment his hemoglobin levels are below the normal range. What can we do to increase his hemoglobin levels?

The hemoglobin in people with thalassemia minor are often just below normal. Our bodies can compensate for these mildly low hemoglobins, so there should be little if any impact on energy levels and health. Usually there is nothing that needs to be done to increase the hemoglobin.
How far below the normal range is his hemoglobin? Patients with thalassemia minor can have these lower levels, but their bodies acclimate to that low level and is not at risk of serious harm. There is unfortunately not much to do to increase Hgb levels in these patients by way of diet or vitamins.
Thalasemia minor could have mild anemia or is associated with other causes of anemia like iron deficiency, blood loss.If these are all eliminated then there is nothing else to do. Perhaps folic acid 1 mg per day could help
For thalassemia minor, there is no treatment, and his hemoglobin will be low in his life.
