Not only should your ear be loked at, but your throat as wewll. A condition called referred otalgia occurs when the throat is irritated and the sensory nerves in this area that pass through the ear, are affected and the pain radiates to the ear, similat to back pain radiating down the leg.
Ear pain in adults is most commonly referred to. Usually from swollen lymph nodes in the neck, a sore throat (pharyngitis or tonsilitis), or jaw joint pain.

May have fluid in your ear, an antihistamine (alegra) may be helpful. If it persists I would see your ENT and have him look at your ear and throat.
