Gastroenterologist Questions

I'm worried! Is it my stomach or anxiety, or something worse?

Hi, a blessed Christmas to whom it might concern. The past week I've started to have anxiety when I would eat, I felt a little more full than normal, my heart rate went up, and I bloated and burped, sweaty palms. It has been stressful with family issues I'll admit. I can snack throughout the day. My stool appears to be fine, with no bleeding, no vomiting, just anxiousness and bloating, my blood pressure appears to be fine but my heart rate is high, 108. Of course, I resort to the worst thoughts, stomach cancer, or something like that. My friend who is a certified neurological nurse practitioner said it sounds more like the onset of GERD and anxiety, it could be an ulcer, plus the vagus nerve can be inflamed as well. Side note, in my humility as a veteran, when I have a couple shots of whiskey in the evening to take the edge off, it appears I can eat just fine with no major issues. I'm just trying to figure all of this out, thank you for your service, and may you and your family have a blessed Christmas...

It's probably mostly anxiety causing you these intestinal symptoms. When you drink alcohol, you feel more relaxed, so the GI symptoms get better. Try to find healthier relaxation techniques, like meditation or exercise.
See a doctor to make sure you are not anemic.
