Is dental implant surgery risky?

I will get a dental implant. Is dental implant surgery risky?

Hi, The direct answer to your question is it depends. If a dental implant is placed in a healed extraction site, then the risk is minimal. If an extraction is done and an immediate implant placed, it is a little riskier but still very successful. Other factors that determine the riskiness of dental implant surgery is the patient's health status and oral hygiene practices. Having more medical conditions and/or uncontrolled medical conditions increases the risk of dental implant surgery. Not brushing and flossing on a daily basis increases risk of dental implant surgery. Make sure to have your medical history reviewed by the dentist/oral surgeon placing the implant and make sure to follow all instructions given by the provider to minimize risk.
You would have to define risky. But health issues are not really a concern
