Yes! And get to a chiropractor. There's a lot going on and want to keep your body functioning at its best! I've seen many pregnant women for chiro care and massages!!
It is generally safe to have a massage while pregnant as long as you don't
have a high risk pregnancy. Ask your Dr before getting a massage. Look for
someone who specializes in, or is trained in, pre-natal massage to ensure
the safest and best quality massage while pregnant.
In this case, your doctor must advise you because every pregnancy has its unique complications. E.g. narrow pelvis vs. wide pelvis.
I am not a massage therapist so I suppose it depends on the technique, the massage therapist, and if they have prior education or experience in pregnancy and massage. I am a Chiropractor and I do work with pregnant patients.
There are specific prenatal/pregnancy massage techniques which help your changing biomechanics as your baby, and therefore you, grow(s). Seek a technician that has been trained in pregnancy massage.
You’ll want to find a massage therapist who offers Prenatal Massage. It is mostly the same as a regular massage but the table will have a middle section cut out for your growing belly to fit in, so that you and your baby are comfortable. Some massage therapists perform prenatal massage with a pregnancy pillow so that you can lie face down without compressing your abdominal region. Either of these should be good options so that you can still enjoy the many benefits of massage therapy.
Yes it is completely safe. We also perform a new patient intake to see if there may be other conditions that are contraindicated with massage. We treat expecting mothers right up to their delivery. You are more than welcome to come visit and see our office without any obligation.
Yes! As long as the person doing the massage is well trained
