Is pneumonia an emergency?

I have pneumonia. Is pneumonia an emergency?

Sometimes. Depends on other factors.
The word emergency can be used loosely in different areas, Pneumonia is an emergency if you cannot maintain saturations over 90% Therefore it's severe enough that you might need oxygen. But if the oxygen saturations are in the normal range and you're not suffering from hypoxia It doesn't necessarily become an emergency but you do need to be seen and examined. Sometimes it's viral and sometimes it's bacterial requiring antibiotics. And those with asthma and COPD often are treated with antibiotics because of the severity of their lungs. Highly recommended to go see your primary care physician or an acute care facility clinic
