Surgeon Questions Testicular Disorders

Is surgery mandatory for epididymo-orchitis?

I am a 36-year-old man and I am suffering severe pain due to epididymo-orchitis. The doctors have recommended a surgery to removed the coiled tube which seems to have triggered the infection. Is the surgery necessary or can the condition be treated with medications?

You will eventually need Surgery. Medications have horrible side effects. You have to remove the source of the problem.
Surgery is not the first choice treatment. Conservative treatment is arranged by your specialist doctor who diagnosed you in the first instance. A second opinion is another option.

Usually treated medically. Need US to make sure its not torsion of testicle. Usually better within 72 hours, if not you need additional work up for cause of pain.
There must me more to this problem. The typical treatment is non operative with rest, antibiotics, and analgesics. Is there something else going on you are not telling me?
Tell your physician to consider antibiotics. Wait for a month and see how you respond. Let him reassess and then refer to a urologist for consultation.
