Plan B & surgery?

I just recently had gastric sleeve surgery 6 weeks ago, I am sexually active but not on birth control. I was wondering is it safe to take the Plan B pill even though I had gastric sleeve surgery?

yes, it is safe but why not be on something to alleviate your fears? You know we have good methods and for someone who is losing weight, an IUD or Nexplanon would be the best until your weight is stable and then you can decide the next step since you are at high risk for pregnancy because of the improvement of the insulin resistance with the weight loss hence the better ovulation.
Usually, it is recommended to prevent pregnancy for about 18 months after a bariatric procedure. Your body is going to go through changes and not advisable to compound the changes with pregnancy in such a short period interval after your bariatric surgery. Most likely it may be safe but discuss this with your physician for close medical supervision.
You are at high risk for developing dvt/pe, which is serious, especially with recent surgery on an obese patient if you take ocp.
Usually birth control pills are discouraged around bariatric surgery as it increases the risk of blood clots. 6 weeks out from surgery should be okay to take plan B pills as long as your ambulating is back to normal.
Please use condoms or place anon-hormonal IUD.
Birth control is recommended for at least 12-18 months after weight loss surgery for young women of child-bearing age. For specifics regarding Plan B, I would discuss directly with the pharmacist or your gynecologist, but there should not be any specific contra-indications because you had a sleeve.
