Obstetrician and Gynecologist Questions Obstetrician-Gynecologist

Possible pregnancy?

I am 42 years old. My last period was at the beginning of September and the end of September. I got it twice in one month. Last month in October I was spotting for 2 days only. This month November I was only spotting for 1 day. I am always tired, feel bloated, stomach cramps, tingling in my breasts. I took 4 pregnancy tests and they are all negative. Not sure what is happening.

Do a blood pregnancy test.
In the years leading up to menopause (called perimenopause) our periods can change quite a bit. This is due to all the hormonal changes. If your pregnancy tests are negative, it is probably just due to perimenopause, but an ob/gyn should be able to check you for sure and help manage your irregular periods.

Women can get 1-2 abnormal cycles per year whether you skip a cycle or have an extra cycle. This could be early menopause, PMS symptoms as well.

Since your pregnancy test is negative, it could be a hormonal imbalance. Please see your OBGyn to get help.
