Re-occuring sleep issues?

Hey, I've been dealing with sleep problems for a while now, and wonder if I should seek concern or treatment. Since about a year ago, I've been dealing with excessive daytime sleepiness, brain fog, trouble paying attention, and fatigue that never leaves whether I get enough sleep or not. This problem is a bit strange for me, It's off and on for what seems like weeks or months. Some months I will be dealing with these issues, spacing off, a complete lack of momentary awareness, trouble thinking, fatigue and exhaustion, insomnia etc..but it will go away for week to months. There are more symptoms than I've listed.

I suggest you talk to your parents about this and consider seeing an MD who is expert in sleep medicine. Though rare in teenagers, a possible explanation includes SLEEP APNEA--a condition where you stop breathing while asleep thereby causing the blood oxygen level to drop. This can result in lack of adequate sleep as well as brain fog, daytime sleepiness, fatigue, poor concentration and focus, morning headaches, etc. Clues to this diagnosis include obesity and snoring.
Yes you definitely need evaluation by a sleep specialist. At 15 is about the age we start diagnosing narcolepsy. More commonly around 17 to 20
