Strep throat non group A?

Hi, I had a question about strep throat. I had a throat culture done and it said that I had non group A strep, is that supposed to be treated or will it go away on its own?

Opinions vary. I always treat it with an antibiotic.
It will resolve on its own. Take Tylenol for discomfort. Drink plenty of fluids.
Group A is dangerous because of cardiac complications (Rheumatic fever) indeed very rare. The other groups of strep are less dangerous but also have their own symptoms and complications. The truth is that most of the time it goes away on its own without complication. But the one who has a strep B, G, D etc... and suffers or cannot work may justify treatment. The treatment is not considered as medical obligation.
With concerns about group A streptococcus causing other symptoms from the toxins that are elaborated. Non-group A can give rise to typical symptoms of sore throat irritation, which may last for several days, but still can be treated symptomatically and/or with antibiotics if needed.
Your immune system is good I assume. A simple anti-streptococcal antibiotic will clear it very fast and you will be good to go. Take care of your immune system and mouth hygiene....
