Ulcer or lesion on thumb?

I developed a small pointed lesion or puncture on my thumb over 6 weeks ago. It just will not heal and only got a lot worse. It is on my right hand on the palm side of my thumb and it is extremely painful. It almost looks like an ulcer and it keeps spreading out. I am really puzzled. Could you please tell me what this could be and how I should treat it?

If the condition has persisted until now, by all means, a trip to a local dermatologist is recommended.

From the photo, it may be a blood vessel growth called pyogenic granuloma. We would need to remove this surgically under local anesthesia for definitive diagnosis.

This needs to be seen by your dermatologist and treated in the office.
