What is causing my symptoms?

Hi, I am a 37 year old female. About 6 weeks ago I was waking up with my head shaking by itself if I lie on my right side. I have neck/base of skull pressure/pain. I also have pressure in my ears. One night I had a massive flash of light in my eyes when I was sleeping. This happened once. I also had facial tingling primarily around chin and lips and the side of my left eye. Sometimes like electric pain lasting just seconds in my eyes and lip. My GP has ordered blood work and thinks it’s a trapped nerve. My medical history is stage 2B nodular melanoma 5 years ago. I have pins and needles sometimes in my hands but rare. I have had facial tingling every day on and off for three weeks. I do have a history of anxiety also.

Your GP may be on the right track with the trapped nerve theory. I think that anxiety may be playing a significant role as well. Given your history of melanoma; I would get this checked out as well. Contact your Oncologist and run this by him/her and have them evaluate you or refer to a Neurologist for further evaluation.
