What kind of sedation is done for liver biopsy?

I will have a liver biopsy. What kind of sedation is used for a liver biopsy?

Usually only local anesthesia is used for a percutaneous biopsy of the liver. You must be awake and able to follow directions for the biopsy to be safe.
Usually a mild sedative such as Midazolam in combination with pain
medication, short acting opioid Fentanyl if there is no contraindications.
That's a great question! Every patient is different, but most likely you will be receiving low doses of Propofol, and possible fentanyl.
No sedation is routinely given for a liver biopsy, only local anesthetic
