My daughter will have a tonsillectomy. What kind of sedation is used for a child's tonsillectomy?

Not sedation, general anesthesia.
Its not a sedation. Rather GETA, general endotracheal anesthesia. The purpose is to keep the child asleep during the surgery and at the same time to protect the airway from aspiration of blood and gastric content. That is the safest way to go with tonsillectomy and adenoidectopy.
Tonsillectomy can not be done with sedation. It will require a general anesthetic.
