What level of gum recession needs treatment?

I have gum recession on my front teeth. What level of gum recession needs treatment?

Generally, treatment IS required when the recession has extended to the ‘loose tissues’/ meaning the gum tissue that is usually firmly attached to the bone has receded to the loose (mucosal) tissues. Other reasons can be unmanageable sensitivity or purely esthetics
There is no requirement. Are they sensitive? Are you brushing too hard or wrong? Is there decay?
Three to four mm of recession with 1 or less mm of attached gingiva. It’s best to have minimum of 3mm of attached gingiva but insurance only wants to pay when there is 0mm of attachment. This is letting the problem go too far.
