Are you put to sleep for finger surgery?

I am a 44 year old male. I will have finger surgery on Monday. Are you put to sleep for finger surgery?

Most likely not unless it is a significant fracture requiring instrumentation . Procedures such as trigger finger releases are usually done with local anesthesia by the surgeon along with intravenous sedation .
Typically yes. It is possible to do so with just local anesthetic but that can be very uncomfortable. We most often will drift you off to sleep to maximize comfort.
Patients have a choice when it comes to finger surgery. They can get a block and not go to sleep or can have a light general anesthetic.

Believe it's not necessary. Many hand surgeries are done under regional blocks. If you need sedation, ask your anesthesiologist.
