Are zirconia crowns more expensive than porcelain?

I am a 28 year old male and I want to get zirconia crowns. Are zirconia crowns more expensive than porcelain?

No. In our office, it's the same price.
All porcelain crowns as well as zirconia costs the same. Some porcelain fused to precious metal crowns may cost more due to the gold in them.
I will speak for what we do in my practice. We do not charge more for Zirconia Crowns.
Zirconia crowns are slightly more expensive.
They can be, and insurance really only wants to pay for a metal equivalent, so you'll end up with a balance, but that's just how they are sometimes; they pay for the least, not the best!
Just the opposite. Zirconia came down in price considerable and dental laboratories make them the least expensive tooth colored restorations. The esthetics of Zirconia is also getting better and better. I personally don't like to even offer Zirconia crowns to my patients for two main reasons:

1. They are not bonding well to the teeth, because Zirconia is closer structurally/chemically to the metals than to porcelains. Porcelain bonds to the teeth really well, and that means the teeth are better protected. Zirconia crowns are cemented.

2. On Xr's Zirconia, crowns are radio-opaque, that means they appear on Xr like a white mass, just like the metal crowns, while the porcelain crowns are translucent and I can see the tooth on the Xr. This allows us to monitor what is happening with the tooth under the crown.

I hope that helps you choose porcelain over Zirconia. Never base your decision on price when it comes to your teeth, because the teeth are price less!
No. Ceramic crowns are about the same fee whether they are porcelain, zirconia or lithium disilicate. However, don’t be so sure that you want zirconia crowns, because they are not the most esthetic crowns available. If you come in for a consultation and I see your X-rays, I can explain more.
The answer to this question depends on a couple of factors. Porcelain crowns can be fabricated with non precious metals, in which case they probably would be by maybe 10%. Low gold or high gold metals they would be same or less depending the practice you go to.
Generally not more expensive. They are strong and long lasting. They are not more expensive in my practice.
They should be very similar in costs

No. This is especially true if precious metals are used.
