I hope you did take her to the doctor. Normally clots that are produced by blunt force trauma and appear to be beneath the skin will go away with time. But, deeper clots will have to be diagnosed by your doctor by examination and a simple Ultrasound.
Seek medical attention immediately. This may require blood thinners to prevent the possibility of a PE (Pulmonary embolus) which can be fatal.
Take her to the hospital immediately for treatment. If the blood clot breaks free, it could go to the lungs or heart, causing PE.
A clot in the leg is very important. It may be partially related to diabetes since diabetes can cause "thickening" of the blood, especially if poorly controlled. But clots can occur in anyone, especially after an injury. In any event, GET TO A DOCTOR! Clots can break loose & go to the lungs with serious consequences, even death. She needs to be on an anticoagulant & under careful observation by a physician.
