Can cancer spread from the blood to the organs?

My friend is 40, and she was diagnosed with leukemia. Is there any chance that the cancer can spread from her blood to her organs?

Leukemic cells travel in the blood and they can in principle invade other tissues. Depending on the type of leukemia, the cells may go to the liver, spleen and/or lymph nodes or even other organs. Leukemia is not one disease and it is difficult to be very specific unless has a detailed knowledge of the patient and her condition.
Leukemia is a tumor of the blood system, different than solid tumors. Leukemia can affect the spleen which is part of the blood system. Depending on the type of leukemia, it may affect the spinal fluid and skin.
