Can teenagers take Tramadol for joint pain?

My 16 year old daughter has severe joint pain. Can teenagers take Tramadol for joint pain?

You should confirm with you primary care doctor in case your medical history involves any other conditions that may be cause adverse effects. You are better off asking your primary care doctor.
For a patient of that age, Tramadol is not recommended as the starting point for treatment. You should schedule with a pain management specialist so that they can order imaging and determine why exactly she is having joint pain and then discuss the different treatment options before ever resorting to a controlled substance. You need to uncover the root cause of the joint pain instead of masking it with a pain medication and not actually treating the issue.

It’s a physician question as it involves a prescription pain medication. But she can do stretches based on which joint is hurting and try applying hot packs/heating pads for 20 min 3-4 times a day.
