Cardiologist Questions Sinus arrhythmia

Can you explain to me what a sinus arrhythmia is?

My doctors diagnosed me with a sinus arrhythmia, but I never heard of it before. Can you explain to me what this disease is? How is it caused?

This is a variation of the heart rhythm with respiration, usually is a benign condition.
Most of the time, the heart beat is regular. When you check the pulse on the wrist, there is regular rhythm. In sinus arrhythmia, the heart rate or pulse is not regular. One feels that there is some irregularity with regular rhythm, it is also associated with respiratory phase. That means the heart rate will be slightly faster with regularity during inhalation & exhalation.
The heart rate will vary with respiration. It is normal in most people, but usually seen in young people and children. It is a normal variant and not a problem.
Sinus arrhythmia is a slight variation in the normal heart beat between beats. It is normal in almost all patients, particularity when you take a deep breath, as that increases the return of the blood to the heart, resulting in a slight delay in the heart beats.
