Geriatrician Questions Chemotherapy

My father is 82 years old and has been detected with a tumor in the stomach. Would it make sense to make him to go through the treatment?

My father is 82 years old and has recently been detected with a tumor in the stomach. While he should be able to decide whether or not he wants the treatment, we also understand that his body might be too weak to take the chemotherapy due to his age. Currently he doesn’t feel any symptoms like pain due to the tumor. And otherwise, he is relatively healthy. Is there a certain age where chemotherapy is no longer recommended?

We should consider how functional is your father? Can he care for himself? Can he drive? Is he active? How is his memory? Does he have health problems? Is the stomach tumor affecting his quality of life?
