Cardiologist Questions Coronary Artery Disease

Does bypass surgery treat coronary artery disease?

My grandfather is 70 years old, and he has severe heart issues. His doctor wants to do bypass surgery. Will this be an effective treatment for coronary artery disease?

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery is must what it means – it bypasses the areas of severe narrowing – like relieving traffic congestion in a city by bypassing around the city – but it does NOT cure the coronary disease – and it is essential that aggressive medical therapy including statins and other medications such as for hypertension, diabetes, etc., are still continued.
