The real question is why are you having pain when you straighten up your posture? Have you had a proper examination? I can't tell what is wrong and what needs to be done without a proper hands on examination and that may include needing Xrays.. The questions that I would ask are: 1. Have you injured the ankle? 2. What sports have you played? 3. Have you turned the ankle? Did you have any fall as a child? Other questions would come up during an examination.
In my 35 years of experience, I have never witnessed improving posture hurting. It does take effort. I do natural holistic treatments, to dramatically reduce the amount of time it takes to correct posture. Also utilizing an upper back - shoulder support helps to reinforce proper posture.
Depending on how you intend to improve your posture, it could, however, there are always pain-free ways to go about changing posture such as chiropractic corrective care!

Hello,

That depends on the extent of the corrections/therapies and how bad the posture is. Some of the therapies can be uncomfortable, and there will be a certain degree of discomfort because your body will not be used to proper form.

Thank you,

Your muscles will feel very sore at first because they’re weak.
It can hurt to correct bad posture at the beginning, but it doesn't take long before it feels good. The key is to be consistent even when things get better.
Not always.
Improving your posture should not hurt at all. It may feel awkward at first, but it should reduce stress in your shoulders, neck, and back. It will be difficult to maintain good posture for a long time unless those postural muscles are strong. If you think you have a problem with posture, visit your chiropractor.
