Does your upper stomach feel tight in early pregnancy?

I am a 24 year old pregnant woman. I want to know if your upper stomach feels tight in early pregnancy?

Well, by early pregnancy, if you mean the first trimester, not usually. Usually, the baby is up to the bellybutton at around 24 weeks so, it would be unusually for your belly to be tight that early.
I hope that this helps.

Hello and thank you for your question.

Yes, some women may experience tightening of their abdomen throughout the entire pregnancy. The tightening can be contractions and contractions that do not cause cervical change or dilation of the cervix are considered false contractions or Braxton Hicks contractions. There may be several reasons for the contractions but many times the cause is unknown. One possibility could be dehydration and can resolve by increasing your water intake if this is the cause. It could also be reflux, urinary tract infection, vaginal infection or any infection, or irritability of your uterus as it is growing and stretching to accommodate your growing pregnancy. Most important thing is to keep an eye on them for changes in their pattern or frequency. Contractions that are consistent, getting stronger and stronger, occurring every 5-7min and lasting longer than 2hrs maybe a sign of pre-term labor and should be evaluated.
Hope this helps. Good luck in your pregnancy.
