Anesthesiologist Questions Tooth extraction

Should I plan to have someone drive me home after my extraction?

I have to get two wisdom teeth removed, and I'm only getting local anesthesia for them. Should I still have someone drive me to my dentist, and pick me up, because of the anesthesia?

Yes you need a driver
Absolutely yes
If it’s only local, you should be fine. But if any sedation or nitrous (laughing gas) is used, you should have someone escort and drive you home.
If they give you anesthesia, yes.
It's a bad idea, but generally not necessary unless they are using sedation.
Nope, you'll be just fine to drive yourself.
Your oral surgeon should give you preoperative instructions which would probably include that as well as recommended amounts of sleep and intake of fluids as well as to bring a driver to accompany year after anaesthetic for your own safety depending on the narcotics used during the procedure
If extractions are done under local anesthesia you can certainly drive yourself to and from the procedure. However, you may want someone there with you if you are particularly nervous about this procedure. Many times this can be emotionally and subsequently physically exhausting for patients so you may be tired, or if your dentist prescribes you any anti-anxiety pre-medication prior to the surgery, you would want a driver.
