Cardiothoracic Surgeon Questions Growth

I have been detected with a growth in my esophagus. Should I consult a cardiothoracic surgeon?

A recent body checkup showed a growth in my esophagus. The doctor didn't say it was cancerous, but I'm still worried about it. Should I consult a cardiothoracic surgeon to learn more about my condition and remove it?

Yes
Cardiothoracic, or thoracic surgeon
General chest surgeon who does surgery of esophagus.
A growth in the esophagus, even if not cancerous, can grow and cause symptoms. It would be helpful to consult a cardiothoracic surgeon who is specialized to perform esophageal procedures.
There are many different types of “growths” in the esophagus, some benign some malignant, some causing symptoms others asymptomatic. Yes you should consult with a cardiothoracic surgeon to better understand what the nature of the growth is, and whether it requires surgical therapy.
Yes. Cardiothoracic surgeons manage esophageal disease benign or malignant. You should at least get an opinion from one about your condition. I would say that before you get anything done, i.e. surgery, consult a cardiothoracic surgeon
Not sure where the growth is or how it was found. Either way, you need to see a GI physician, a thoracic oncologist, or a thoracic surgeon so they can take a good history, do a physical exam, and order the appropriate tests to work up the growth you have so a diagnosis can be made and a treatment plan developed.
You need to have an esophagoscopy (scope) to evaluate and biopsy the growth. A Cardiothoracic surgeon can do the scope but so can a gastroenterologist. Either way, the surgeon will eventually need to be seen.
Depends on where it is located - upper esophagus: ENT MD other locations lower: GI MD or Thoracic Surgeon
Any growth anywhere in the esophagus should be of concern and needs a diagnosis. If not cancerous, what? The first consult should be with a reliable gastroenterologist who can order appropriate CT scans and perform a biopsy with a flexible endoscope, if indicated. A thoracic surgeon will be consulted for excision, if indicated.
You should consult a gastroenterologist first
