How can I prevent tooth erosion?

Last time I went to the dentist, he found that I had tooth erosion on my bottom teeth. What can I do to prevent this from happening in the future?

Avoid acidy foods.
Erosion can be caused by systemic bulimia. Which is not controlled buy intake of acidic foods, improper digestion, regurgitation, not to mention certain disease processes themselves like thrush which alter the pH of the mouth and cause an imbalance in the saliva all of these aspects need to be controlled for proper balance of pH in the mouth to prevent acidic erosion, but as well as over aggressive tooth brushing, which can cause abrasion a first cousin of erosion.
Tooth erosion can be a difficult problem. First, identify why the erosion is happening. Acid reflux? Aggressive brushing? Clenching the teeth? The treatment will depend upon the cause.
Tooth erosion can be caused by multiple things. High acid contact with the enamel, such as sucking lemons. Another culprit is regurgitation (vomit). People inflicted with Bulimia also have severe erosion on their enamel. If you suffer from any of the issues listed, rinse with plain water prior to brushing your teeth and that will help.
