You, as a dental untrained person, should not attempt to remove tartar from your teeth as you are likely to damage your gums. See your dentist/dental hygienist.
Sorry, there are no safe ways to remove tartar (calculus) , once it's formed, other than having a professional dental cleaning.
You can try, never be good.
I would not recommend this as you may cause more damage to your oral health. There are many reasons to go into the dentist for your bi-yearly visits. One major issue that can arise from this is that you probably have calculus ("tartar") below your gums as well that harbor dangerous bacteria that can lead to losing your bone around your teeth. That is non reversible and you will find yourself losing teeth in the next 10 years or so. That means you can be losing teeth in your early 30's.
Hello hope you you are doing well. To answer your question removing calculus/tartar from your teeth requires the proper instruments and preferably an ultrasonic scaler which removes tartar from teeth with a high speed vibration. It also requires that the person doing the prophylaxis has the proper hand skills and knowledge of the anatomy of the oral cavity and tooth morphology in order to remove it effectively and properly without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Not unless you buy specialized dental equipment and tools, and even then it would be like cutting your own hair on the back of your head. Thus, please see a dentist
Good evening,

I'm afraid the only way to remove the tartar off your teeth is to have a professional cleaning. Once the hardened debris is removed, you will be able to floss and brush daily to keep it from coming back.

I am glad you want excellent health for your teeth. Caring for your teeth is one of the best investments you can make. Have your teeth professionally cleaned at least once per year. If you are able, have them cleaned every 6 months by the dentist. Better yet, cleaning them at least once every day will reduce tarter formation. They need to be cleaned 360 degrees around each tooth daily. This can be when it is most convenient for your schedule. Rub each in-between side of each tooth with floss. Clean the cheek and tongue sides with a brush used in very short and gentle motions. Daily 360 degree cleaning is the best way to keep tarter from forming in the first place. Once it has formed, the only way for removal is a trip to the dentist. Dentists say you only have to clean the teeth you want to keep. Frequent sugar use will increase tarter formation, so avoid that. Notice I said frequent, not how much. One sip on a soft drink counts. The book GROWING A HEALTHY CHILD, SECRETS FROM A WISE OLD DOC will provide you with very nice details on this subject. It would be worth the investment if you read it and follow its lessons.
Your home-care is extremely important when it comes to preventing tartar buildup. This includes brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing daily, and using mouthwash that prevents tartar buildup (this will be written on the bottle).

HOWEVER, even with pristine home care, it is imperative that you go to your dentist at least 2 times a year for a professional cleaning. This does two things: it allows the professional hygienist thoroughly clean your teeth so as to remove any tartar buildup that you may have missed, and it allows your general Dentist to do a checkup to make sure you don't have any cavities or other problems.
