Urologist Questions Cystitis

How can I deal with cystitis?

I'm 24 and male, and I was diagnosed with cystitis and was given antibiotics for it. But I would rather not take them and try to treat this naturally. Is it possible that this can go away on its own or to treat it with natural remedies?

Urinalysis and culture should be done. Antibiotherapy is necessary.
Take the antibiotics. Cystitis in a male can also affect your prostate and the antibiotics will cure you. Although some natural remedies may work some of the time, if they don't work, or if they only partially work and your infection recurs you are leaving yourself at risk for more serious infection, bladder scarring and a number of other, more serious, problems.
No. See a urologist.
The answer depends on what is the underlying cause -- if culture shows bacteria or fungus, then it should be eradicated in order to determine if it was the cause, or if it is inflammatory/autoimmune. Once the antibiotics are done, naturopathic options can be considered, and they usually focus on inflammation reduction. The specific selection of herbals depends upon the suspected source, and more information is available online.
