Cardiologist Questions Pacemaker

How can one tell if they have a faulty pacemaker?

I have had a pacemaker ever since I had a heart incident several years ago. How exactly can you tell if the pacemaker they give you works? It's been a long time and I'm wondering if I would need to have a new one.

Generally speaking, devices such as pacemakers undergo an interrogation periodically which assess the battery life and lead status. For example, I see my pacemaker patients twice yearly with a complete device interrogation. Modern pacemakers are pretty reliable devices.
