“How does IVF work?”
My husband and I have been trying hard to get pregnant and have tried other fertility treatments. Now we are considering IVF. How exactly does IVF work, though?

IVF works by capturing an egg from the ovaries in the female by laparoscopy or ultrasound guided extraction and mixing with either the husband's or a donor's sperm outside of the body in a lab. After fertilization takes place, the specimen is then inserted into the uterine cavity via a pelvic exam-like procedure.
