Pulmonologist Questions Pneumonia

How is pneumonia confirmed in a child?

My son is 18 months old and started to wheeze along with cough and cold. The doctors are still trying to diagnose the problem. Could it be pneumonia? How can doctors confirm it?

TYPICAL PNEUMONIA IS CONFIRMED BY A COMBINATION OF SYMPTOMS WITH PARTICULAR XRAY FINDINGS AND SOME LAB-WORK.
Clinically, the child may have a productive cough and fever and an abnormal examination with a stethoscope that might be consistent with pneumonia. Usually, a chest X-ray can confirm pneumonia.
Pneumonia can be confirmed in several ways
By physical exam
By X-ray or CT scan
By ultrasound
