Eyelid plastic surgery or blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes. We can use this surgery to remove excessive skin and protruding fat. The results will last a lifetime but do age with you so you may need a repeat procedure in a decade.
Hello, any cosmetic or plastic surgery should be permanent, however, we cannot stop aging. It should be good for 15 years though! You can also visit my website at DrRoya.com for further information and assistance. Good luck to you!
The fat and skin that is generally removed from the upper and lower eyelids during Eyelid plastic surgery cannot regenerate. Therefore what is removed is gone permanently and the improvement is therefore permanent. However, the aging process does not stop. With age the eyebrows descend, the skin loses elasticity, wrinkles develop and other aging processes that will diminish the look around the eyes also occur. This however is an ongoing aging process, and not a wearing out of the surgery that was performed. In other words if someone has an eyelid plasty they will always for the rest of their life look better than if they had not, but they will not always look as good as when they first had it because the aging process Resumes the moment the last stitch is placed.
Eyelid plastic surgery can take many forms; the most common is upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The results can last for many years and may never need to be repeated depending on the cosmetic needs of the particular patient.
Upper and lower lid surgeries rarely need redo when the surgeon performs the right sequence of procedures or basically evaluate that nothing around the eyelids truly needs a correction that subsequently will affect the lid position and possibly create the need for a revision .
A common example in my consultations is the case of patients that underwent an upper lid trimming without proper treatment of a droopy brow . The same issue exists when considering treatment of the lower lids without regard for a droopy cheek that may require a cheek lift that will subsequently affect the lower lid repair . In one word my advice in facial rejuvenation is always to consider the face as a whole and especially to evaluate the need for a brow or cheek uplift prior to engaging in a trimming of the lid' skin or in simpler terms check where your belt should be before adjusting your cuffs .

It can be years. However, patients can circumvent this by habits such as sleep, eating, hygiene that can shorten the period. Listen to your doctor's post-operative orders. Also, make sure the doctor is board certified either in ophthalmology or plastic surgery.
