Depends on the diagnosis. A complete ophthalmologic exam should be performed.
This depends on what the cause is. You would need an eye exam to determine that.

"Red eye" can be many things. If it lasts longer than a week, give your local eye doctor a call. They can receive a photo of the eye in their email. They will also want to know if this is first time, how long you've had it, one eye or both eyes, do you wear contact lenses, any vision changes, any trauma, does it hurt or feel different, and other things. Send as sharp and clear a photo as you can to them. Good luck!
It depends on why it is red. If it is from makeup or dry eyes, it can be intermittent for months. If it doesn’t a broken vessel or infection, it might be several days to a week

It depends upon the cause. However, viral conjunctivitis lasts 2 to 3 weeks. SO
Usually a few days.
