4 treatments per year of problem
Everyone is different. Back muscle strain or spasm average takes 3-6 treatments. If structure damage, like bulge disk, takes longer depending on how severe your damage is. Some severe structure damage, the only way is to have surgery.
That depends on a great many things, like how long you've had the pain and what is causing it. In my experience, however, it always takes a series of treatments to get rid of back pain completely.
Hard to estimate. Sometimes takes months of regular treatments and sometimes takes 3-5 treatments...
Every person is different. It depends on how long you have had the pain and what is causing the pain. But, you should notice a difference on your first treatment. Acupuncture is not usually a quick fix. it's not a pill you can pop to make the pain go away. Your acupuncturist is actually interested on correcting the cause of the pain. Doctors today don't often work on the cause. They just try to mask the pain. Acupuncture does not work that way. We want to know why you have the pain so we can begin righting what is wrong. It could be quick, but it might take some time.
It depends on how severe your conditions are. You probably need a massage and acupuncture to treat your pain!
Depending on the underlying structural condition of the back (ie. the possibility of a herniated disc), 4 to 12 sessions can provide excellent relief for back pain.
For conditions such as a herniated disc, topical plasters from Wei Labs will need to be used over a period of 1 month to 3 months to resolve the pain and heal the disc herniation.
Thank you for your question! Most people like to have some quick results and it is understandable however the body takes time to heal. When we evaluate a patient with back the questions that we ask are: How long have you had the pain? What is the cause of your injury? It can take a few visits, if the injury is minor, to 20-30 visits if the injury is very complex. The final outcome is permanent or partial restoration without altering the anatomy or physiology functions of the human body.

Depends. It can take up to or over 14.
Hi,

It all depends on your condition. Your acupuncturist should tell you the treatment plan - how many and how often you will need treatments - during or after the first treatment. Please consult your local acupuncturist.

One treatment will work.

Hello,

Usually, I see someone 2 times/week for 2-4 weeks in the beginning of treatment and then we can see how you are progressing and decide on treatment thereafter. Is pain acute or chronic? This also is a factor in the amount of acupuncture someone needs. Are you stretching, drinking enough water? Many things to think about in healing the body!
It’s very hard to say without an assessment but usually patients feel some degree of relief after the first.
It really depends on what type of back pain. Some cases only need one treatment, but others require more.

Great question. It really depends on the patient as well as the practitioner. I’ve had patients who arrived in a wheelchair, due to back pain. Then they walked out of the clinic with no pain, just after first treatment! So, it depends on many variables, but these are the top two main issues with how many treatments. It’s not an exact science. In holistic healing, it is a process. Patience and consistency, along with positivity, help furnish desired results more effectively.
It all depends on how long and how serious your back pain is. Usually, we recommend one course (8-10 sessions) of treatment. Most patients feel great relief after 3-4 sessions.
That is not how Acupuncture works. If you are having back pain, we must find why and design a proper treatment for you. It could be one, six, all depend of your Qi.

Be well, be confident, we can help.
It depends. Sometimes one treatment helps.
That is dependent upon the effectiveness of the style of acupuncture, the treatment frequency, and your compliance with your practitioner's treatment plan (taking herbs, exercises, stretches, applying heat, etc.).

That being said, if you're not feeling any changes whatsoever within 5-8 treatments, I recommend trying another practitioner or another style of acupuncture.
Depending if your back pain is acute or chronic: Typically look for 5-15 sessions
There is no single answer to this question because people have varying degrees of injury or issue and have varying degrees of response to treatments. It could clear up in one treatment or take days or months or years. No one can guarantee you any results in any medical practice.

Do keep talking with your practitioner about the progress, how long things stay well or how quickly they return and at what levels (less pain long term, less time with no pain, lower range of pain scale etc). Then the practitioner can help treat you progressively.

Good luck.
We usually start the back pain cases from 6 visits.
Many patients experience relief during the first visit. It’s important to reinforce this healing effect with follow-up visits. During your first visit you will receive detailed information about how many visits are needed to achieve the best results, including helpful information on how to make the process go more quickly.
Three times treatments enough.
This is a difficult question to answer. The Chinese diagnostic model accounts for a lot of variables that the conventional medical model doesn't consider.

The location, nature and cause (if known) of the pain can play a role. Also, how long you've been experiencing the pain is a factor.

Most of the really good acupuncture pain management studies show there is a "loading dose" effect. On average, for chronic pain, this number hovers around 8 treatments. Some patients respond more quickly than others, some acupuncturists are better with pain than others.

I specialize in pain management, and my sweet spot for most pain conditions tends to be around 4 or 5 treatments.

For the best results, please make sure you're seeing someone licensed as an acupuncturist in your state. If you're outside CA, you can use the "Find a Practitioner" lookup at NCCAOM.org to get a list of local providers. Most of us do some level of pain work, but you'll get the fastest results with someone who specializes in pain management.
