Dermatologist Questions Psoriasis

How should you treat psoriasis?

My father has been suffering from psoriasis and the doctor has recommended a few medications for him. Is there any alternative therapy that could also work?

I don't know what your doctor recommended, but go to a good board certified dermatologist. There are wonderful things on the market. Watch the DTC ads, but speak to a dermatologist who can explain topical, oral, and biologics to your father.
The treatment of psoriasis is as varied as are the degrees of the psoriasis. Milder forms often respond to cortisone cream, vitamin D creams, and topical tar preperations. More severe case may require the use of a group of compounds known as organics. There are a number of these different compounds and they need to be matched on an individual basis.
Trust your doc and use his med. He can also consult a derm qualified in acupuncture ie he/she must have at least 4 years of full time acup training and internship. Be careful of those claiming to be acup but have done only one subject course training at college or only 3 weeks course. Acup treatment can works wonders ONLY if you complete full course of treatments recommended udu 10 to 15 sessions.
