Nephrologist (Pediatric) Questions Urinary Tract Infections

How to treat my son's UTI's?

My son is 10 year old, and he's getting UTI's very often. What can be the cause of this? Should we visit a doctor?

In children, frequent urinary infections are symptoms of really important problems with the kidneys, ureters, and bladder. He should be seen by a pediatrician and probably by a urologist. Soon.
Are they culture proven infections? If so, your son needs further work-up and to see a pediatric urologist.
There may be something abnormal about his bladder or kidneys, or he may not be circumcised, all reasons a boy would have a UTI. Needs to see a doctor.
A urologist needs to find the defect in his drainage system causing the problem, because boys his age should not be having UTIs.
A 10 year old with repeated UTI should have urinalysis urine culture renal ultrasound and VCUG to determine if resistent infection or an anomaly of the urinary tract causing repeated infections. He should see a doctor right away.
