How to use an EpiPen on a child?

My daughter recently got a prescription for an EpiPen but I'm not sure how to use it. If the situation comes up. How to use an EpiPen on a child?

When you are administering the Epi Pen to a young child, hold the leg/thigh region firmly in place while administering. Place the orange tip against the middle of the outer thigh (upper leg) at a right angle (perpendicular) to the thigh. Swing and push the auto-injector firmly until it “clicks.” Make sure that you are holding the pen like a fist with your thumb wrapped around the other fingers on NOT at the orange tip. That is the key. If your thumb is placed on the orange tip it will not allow the needle to inject onto the thigh.
The packaging has instructions. It is best if it is demonstrated /practiced
You need to read the package insert on the pen you have if it is an autoinjector or not. You can also take it back to the pharmacy for a demonstration on how to use it. You need to know how and when to use or it is useless in an emergency..
