Infectious Disease Specialist Questions Bronchial Disorders

Do infections also cause inflammation in the body?

I have a bronchial infection. While the doctor has prescribed antibiotics, I am experiencing inflammation throughout my body. Could this be due to the infection? Or am suffering from a bronchial infection and am experiencing certain inflammation in my body. Could it be due to the infection? Or could this be a side effect of the medication?

I cannot make a complete answer to your question. Inflammation is a normal response to any infection and is most concentrated at the major point of the infection..in your case the bronchial tubes. Generalized inflammation occurs with auto immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or generalized viral or bacterial infections. This would take more evaluation by your physician.
