yes
If the doctor is treating a bacterial infection, it is safe to use therapeutic dose of antibiotics.
Yes, it is okay to give a one-year-old an antibiotic if they have bacterial infection. You can even use it on a younger infant if they have bacterial infection.

Yes, it is okay to give a 1-year-old an antibiotic, as long as it is for a bacterial infection. If it is a viral infection, then an antibiotic is unnecessary and will not work. The question you ask has many other answers, depending on what the infection is, where is it located, the symptoms your child has, and whether or not a culture of the infected site was done (this is not always done).

The answer is that antibiotics are safe to give to a one year old as long as the antibiotic is appropriate for the illness being treated, is given in the proper dose, and for the correct amount of time. Antibiotics can be given to all age children in appropriate circumstances.
Antibiotics can be given even to newborns. They can have side effects of diarrhea, thrush, and yeast rash. These can be minimized by giving probiotics with the antibiotics
