Is non-alcoholic fatty liver disease fatal?

My father was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease just recently, and he hardly experienced any symptoms before his diagnosis. Is this disease fatal?

It is only occasionally fatal.
Hello, yes it can be fatal if not properly taken care of. Your father should be on a low fat diet, excercise regularly, abstain from alcohol, make sure not to abuse acetaminophen for pain. If you father has diabetes make blood glucose to be well controlled. If not careful it can progress to cirrhosis, which is a fatal condition. Thank you

No, it is not fatal. Please follow up with your doctor to determine the possible causes and how to get ongoing care, as needed.
The disease is not fatal, unless it progresses.
