Will I have to be on a liquid diet post my oral surgery?

I am due for a oral surgery. I have diabetes and can't stay hungry for very long. Will I have to be on a liquid diet post my surgery?

Your diet will depend upon the type of surgery. Best to ask your surgeon. He should be well versed in how to handle post surgery care for diabetics.
Yes. I would encourage a soft non-chewing diet. Any foods that require chewing should be avoided for the first 24-48 hrs.

Solid foods only for usually a few days possible dietary supplements mostly liquid, followed by mashed potatoes chicken noodle soup and then after about three or four days you can usually get back to solid foods.
Depending on the type of surgery, you may have to take a liquid or soft diet. Just make certain that your caloric intake is identical to the ADA diet that you should normally be on.
Usually you can be in a soft diet, advice your surgeon of your condition, drink plenty of liquids before the surgery and take your diabetes medicines, also you can keep some gatorade with you all the time
You can eat nutritious food, but stay away from things that could stuck in your teeth (popcorn, chips). Soft diet is preferred for a few days after surgery.
